What a bastard you've made of Mycroft You think so?
I actually think everyone's being horribly unfair to Mycroft in this fic, including Mycroft himself. It was one of his few early failures - after all, he was only a schoolboy himself, dealing with all the pressures of adolescence. And he certainly would have stopped the abuse if he'd known about it in time. But he'll never forget that Sherlock was damaged "on his watch" - Mycroft would have been well aware of his duty to look out for his younger brother, even if Mummy hadn't specifically asked him to.
Re the dynamics: I have a feeling Sherlock will be able to compartmentalise his life just fine! :D
