Snape 100 Challenge#257: January Man
Characters: Severus Snape
AN: January is named for the Roman god Janus
Sleepless, he frets. It seems he grew too accustomed to the masks he wore for so long: for one master, the humbled penitent; for the other, the zealot eager for advancement. Now, though, Dumbledore is dead and the Dark Lord with him, and Severus need be no one but himself. Whoever that might be.
It is ironic, then, that he finds he misses the need to lie, to dissemble, to change with the wind. It is as if a side of him died there in the Shrieking Shack and left him bleeding and bereft.
Only half the man he was.
