blpaintchart‘s birthday
With thanks to Crown Paints – yes, these are all real colours, which can be downloaded in pdf format here: http://www.crownpaint.co.uk/colourexp/products/emulsion/
“Lupin. Why have the living-room walls suddenly sprouted squares of different colours?”
“Oh, they’re test squares. I thought perhaps we should repaint. Freshen the old place up.”
“And what are these colours you have chosen? Bliss, Pashmina, Rodeo Drive – these are not colours, Lupin, these are cynical attempts to market dingy, unpopular shades by appealing to the emotions of gullible customers.”
“Well, what about this one then?”
“Lupin? They’ve named a colour after you?”
“Yes, it’s a sort of sky-blue. Quite nice really. So, what do you think?”
“Hmm. Well, I have always enjoyed having you up on my wall.”
…………………..
“You know, Lupin, I shall have to write a stern letter to the paint manufacturers.”
“Oh? Why’s that, Severus?”
“I cannot abide companies that market products without carrying out the proper quality controls. One should be able to trust one’s suppliers: it is a basic requirement when engaging in commerce. One must be assured that the product is fit for the purpose and as described. Quite clearly they have been shockingly remiss with their research into the proper colour for a paint called lupin.”
“Oh?”
“Mmm. That little patch you just, ahem, painted on the wall is not remotely sky-blue.”
