Mm. I have not posted re my progress on Camwolf lately, have I? And yep, you guessed it, that is because there hasn't been any.

I have been bitten by the short-story bunny, and a nasty, nippy little thing it is too. So now we are three:
Deep Fried Mars Bar!fic (5k, finished, subject to any changes I may make)
Werecat!fic (3k, far from finished, but promising)
and Rentboy!fic (7k, much closer to finished, but hmmmmmm....)

Oh! and an author name: JL Merrow. Which will be sadly pointless if I never manage to sell anything...

...finally appear to be unblocked on Camwolf! Colour me exceedingly relieved. 18k now (ok, so that's a pitiful increase on last time, but dammit, I have a houseful of people *curses snowy weather*).

Hm, though. It seems as if it will be rather shorter than I had thought. Not sure if this is a problem or not.

Returning cautiously to their cottage, Harry sensed a brittle calm. Amidst the chaos caused by their furious argument, a stiff figure sat upon the sofa, staring into the fire.

“Severus?”

“Harry.” A deep breath. “I regret…”

Harry was in his arms in a heartbeat. “I’m sorry too. God, Severus, I hate it when we fight. Let’s never fight again, OK?”

Severus sighed, and held him. There was no use in telling Harry that things were never that simple.

“I find it rather soothing, actually,” Severus assured him with a smile.

“And I suppose he has to be exercised, as well?” The doubtful tone did not alter, but there was a speculative gleam in Lucius’ eye.

Severus smirked. “Indeed he does. Would you like to see him put through his paces? Gilderoy! Here, boy!”

Severus’ eyes were fond as the befuddled wizard bounded up eagerly to serve his master.

The more I write, the less I understand people who say things like they spent a year thinking about a novel, and then they just had to write it down. One of the biggest problems I have with longer stories (anything over 15k) is keeping it all in my (apparently rather disappointingly-sized) brain at once. Still haven't come up with a satisfactory solution to this.

Yes, I've had stories that seemed to write themselves, but they were very particular about waiting for me to sit down at the keyboard before they started, and I couldn't have told you beforehand very much at all about how they would go.

Have started writing the end of Camwolf, which has been very useful in letting me know what has to happen in the middle.
